3 Inch Y Strainer
• Built for heavy-duty pipeline filtration, this 3 inch Y strainer keeps water, fire protection, and industrial systems clear of damaging debris.
• With flanged connections, it installs easily into standard 3-inch piping; its cast iron body with red epoxy coating resists corrosion and wear.
• The Y-shaped design maintains smooth flow while trapping solids, minimizing pressure loss and keeping your system running efficiently.
• Ideal for commercial plumbing, fire sprinklers, and industrial use, it protects pumps, valves, and parts from clogs and costly repairs.
• Simple to maintain: remove the top cover to clean or replace the screen, no full disassembly required.

This 3-inch Y strainer goes right before the gear you don't want to wreck. Think pumps, control valves, meters, check valves, sprinkler heads-anything that'll get ruined by dirt, scale, or rust bits floating in the water.
For fire lines, we usually place it just upstream of sprinkler risers and alarm valves, so gunk can't jam the system. On industrial water lines, it goes before pumps and regulators to keep them from clogging mid-shift. It fits standard 3-inch flanged valves, so most existing 3-inch piping runs don't need a full rework to drop it in.

How to install this thing the right way
Quick heads-up: always line the water flow up with the arrow on the body.
From what we've seen on site, it works best two ways: mounted horizontally (filter bowl pointing down), or vertically with the water flowing down. Flip it around, or mount it with flow going up, and gunk won't drop into the bowl like it should-screen will clog fast. Stick to the arrow and these two positions, and you'll skip most headaches later.

FAQ
Q: Can I mount this vertically with water flowing up?
A: Honestly, don't do it. When the flow's going up, gunk just sits in the mesh instead of dropping into the bowl, so it clogs way too fast. Stick to horizontal or downward vertical flow-those work every time.
Q: My pipes aren't standard, can I still use this?
A: Our standard models fit common flange sizes, but we can sort out adapters or custom flanges for odd setups. Just send over your pipe specs, and we'll let you know if we can make it work.
Q: Not sure what mesh size I need? Any quick tips?
A: Depends on what you're filtering. 20-mesh works for most water and fire lines. If you've got a lot of fine sediment, go with 30–40 mesh. If you just need to block big chunks, 10–15 mesh is enough. Tell me about your water quality, and I'll help you pick the right one.
Q: Can this connect to PVC/HDPE pipes?
A: The strainer itself is cast iron with flanges, so it pairs best with metal pipes. If you're using PVC or HDPE, you'll need transition flanges or adapters to hook them up. Just make sure the pressure ratings all line up before you install.
Q: Is a strainer actually necessary?
A: Trust me, it's worth it. Rust, scale, and construction gunk will wear out pumps, valves, and sprinkler heads over time. That means unexpected shutdowns and expensive repairs-especially bad in fire systems. A small strainer is a cheap way to protect the whole pipeline.
